Swiss Fabian Giger won the exhibiton race on mountain bikes called Pražské schody ("Prague steps") Second was Czech rider Kristian Hynek and third place belonges to Michiel van der Heijden of the Netherlands. Olympic champion Jaroslav Kulhavy did not finish the race because of some mechanicals. The race was a prelude to this weekend's World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě.

The eighth man of the world cross country ranking Giger won quite confidentely. He gradually developed a good gap of more than a minute before Hynek. "In the heat the race was very tough. Luckily, it lasted only an hour and because of my previous participations I knew what to expect," he said in the finish line. Right after the race he moved to Nové Město na Moravě.

Kulhavý struggled with technical problems and after about 45 minutes quit. "My chain fell off on the steps at least four times, I was mad about it. But in the race I felt quite good, so I'm a bit upset," said Kulhavý after the race.

"Giger showed that he is a world class rider. It is evident that he is before the race in Nové Město in great shape and will be one of the favorites," summed up the race best Czech rider Kristián Hynek.
