Audrey Vaillancourt gives Canada historic gold medal

Women's Individual over 15 km
Women's Individual over 15 km

Audrey Vaillancourt is the first Canadian taking a gold medal in OECH and the first female Canadian climbing on top of  podium after 20 years! What an irony since Audrey has not been selected for Olympic Games in Sochi!

The 22 years old Audrey had only 2 shooting errors under very difficult weather conditions for shooting (due to fog) at Nove Mesto and despite the 15th best ski time has managed to lead oer Nastassia Kalina of Belarusia (the former Russian who had switched to Belarusia in 2013 ) who had scored 4 errors and had the 3rd best ski time (she was 2 minutes faster than Vaillancourt).

Iryna Kryuko of Belarus took the bronze medal completing a perfect day for Belarusians during 1st day of European Championships. The 22 years old Iryna had only 2 errors and despite having the 17th best ski time has kept the medal over Galina Nechkasova of Russia by 13″!

Top 6 has been completed by Galina Nechkasova of Russia (4th, 5 errors, the best ski time today), Darya Virolaynen of Russia (5th, 4 errors) and the other big surprise Kristel Viigipuu of Estonia (6th, 3 errors, 14th best ski time)!
