Petr Vaněk, the secretary general, said: "We let their imagination create what they will. They have never let us down and it is a great piece of art this year again. The winners might be the only ones to have a problem with it, should they want to take it on board of a plane: It is heavy and bulky," he added.
The Bednařík brothers are cycling enthusiasts themselves, which makes creating the award even more pleasurable for them. "This has been the sixth or perhaps seventh time - I cannot remember exactly - that we have forged a trophy for the races in Nové Město. It always features an outline of a cyclist, and we only create a new base. We added a part of a bicycle to the 2015 trophy - a jockey wheel," Michal Bednařík explained.
The four pieces of the original trophy took total of 120 hours to make. The stainless steel was melted at 1,200 degrees Celsius and was forged on a huge power hammer.
